About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Monitoring and Surface Geomechanics, the Geotechnical is accountable to govern geotechnical designs and procedures (including ground control performance standards), provide geotechnical support to Operations, approve geotechnical designs as per statutory requirements, deploy and control geotechnical monitoring, and complete five-year and brownfields geotechnical design.
Role Purpose:
- Provide geotechnical monitoring and logistical support to mine site Geotechnical Engineers to enable the achievement of safe and economic coal extraction
- Add value to BHP Coal by managing and enabling each sites monitoring needs including maintaining equipment, communications, data capture and related IT support
- Manage logistics for teams Ground Investigation Programmes.
- Maintain geotechnical monitoring systems and procedures to enable safe installation and ongoing maintenance of monitoring infrastructure
- Demonstrate and instil in others an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
- Comply to relevant legislative requirements including each sites SHMS.
- Maintain site access and pit driving qualifications for each mine site.
- Acquire and maintain Appointed Supervisor certification for each BMA Mine Site
- Identify and implement improvement opportunities, with particular focus on monitoring systems.

About You
To be successful for this role you will have two years Geotechnical Technician Traineeship or have relevant Technician experience in geotechnical monitoring instrumentation service provision.
In addition you will have the following:
- Relevant experience in monitoring systems and mine site communication.
- Must have the ability to acquire and maintain Appointed Supervisor certification at each site.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electronic diagnostics
- Ability to maintain comprehensive data records of monitoring programme performance metrics.
- Strong understanding of risk management and can demonstrate safe behaviour within an operational environment.
- Ability to work 8/6 roster flexible travel arrangements or residential Moranbah
