About the Role

This Geotechnician role will be based within the Technical Services team at Nickel West Leinster underground mine.

Working autonomously within a small team, the Geotechnician will be responsible for UG grade control processes, sampling and associated lab dispatches. Responsibilities will also encompass daily drill rig checks and required data entry.

Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, your key accountabilities will include:

  • Acquiring and processing Sirovision images
  • Face mapping and sampling
  • QAQC of Shotcrete, grout and bolt installation
  • Instrumentation installation and data collection
  • Systems development and implementation as required.
  • Testing work and data interpretation as required
  • Assist the Geotechnical team as required

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:

  • Computer literacy and/or experience with MS Office and 1SAP (advantageous but not essential);
  • Able to work underground. Previous underground mining experience highly advantageous.  
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to significantly contribute to a high performing team.  
  • Minimum C class Driver’s Licence essential
  • Tertiary level qualification favourable but not essential (e.g Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Engineering Geology or Civil Engineering). 
  • Familiarity with Sirovision package advantageous
