We are looking for a GIS Expert to work with the Cultural Heritage team based in Brisbane, supporting RTA (Rio Tinto Aluminum) to make significant improvements and develop creative solutions for the management of Heritage information.

This position is responsible for supporting cultural heritage data management, including processes related to heritage data inputs & outputs, analysing complex data and providing support to system users. The role will require regular travel to site in weipa to work with stakeholders and the greater cultural heritage team.

A fantastic opportunity for a passionate professional with knowledge and experience in Information Management to support cultural heritage data management across Rio Tinto Aluminium. Reporting to the Superintendent of Cultural Heritage you will be-

  • Supporting development & implementation of IHM long-term strategy requirements, including processes & GIS datasets
  • Developing tools/scripts that support more efficient & reliable extraction of information.
  • Documenting data processes & map network, data & system dependencies
  • Providing support managing PowerBI apps & reports

What you will bring

  • Proven ability to analyse complex data and develop meaningful insights & reports
  • Qualifications in information or data management, GIS or related fields
  • Advanced experience with AGOL (ArcGIS Online) & ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Flexible and adaptive approach to fluctuating workloads and priorities
  • Problem-solving and analytical expertise
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of GIS infrastructure, map servers, feature servers & SDE
  • Applied knowledge of programming languages including Python and SQL
  • Experience with PowerBI

 It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Knowledge of Heritage Information Management Systems and experience in its application through systems management, data quality management and data quality assurance.
