About the Role

The role can be based in Brisbane or Perth.

As the GIS Solution Architect, you value simplicity and is unafraid to challenge technical constraints and procedures to achieve a resilient and cost-effective design.

You will work closely with all team members to create modular, scalable, reusable blueprints that will meet the future needs of GIS users across the business. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designs the overall global GIS product landscape to meet the organisations objectives
  • Responsible for all GIS design and architecture artefacts and maintaining these aligned to BHP’s license to architect standards
  • Guides project teams on GIS architecture, integration, and automated geo-processing workflows
  • Be hands on and engage stakeholders on technical presentations, demonstrations, and product walk-throughs
  • Works with the Product Owner to develop and maintain the roadmap for GIS across BHP managing the overall deployment landscape to be efficient and effective
  • Constantly looking for better ways of solving architectural limitations or constraints and is not afraid of questioning  the status quo  

About You

  • Strong expertise in design and development of enterprise applications, preferably enterprise-wide Geographic Information Systems
  • Strong experience producing conceptual and physical architecture artefacts leveraging standard architecture notation such as ArchiMate 
  • Good knowledge of Esri ArcGIS technologies and the wider spatial vendor ecosystem.
  • Exposure to architecting cloud native solutions, cloud certifications are advantageous
  • Understanding of standard tools relevant to the GIS automation (e.g. FME) 
  • Demonstrate exceptional planning skills with a focus on attention to detail, be action and results oriented. 
  • Outstanding communication stakeholder engagement skills skills 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline
