We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead, develop, and empower our geospatial team across multiple projects. This role is centered on building a high performing, collaborative team environment while ensuring that GIS capability is effectively embedded across the business.
You will provide clear direction, support professional growth, and champion GIS as a strategic enabler for decision making. Working closely with stakeholders from CSP, Environment, Geology and Projects and the RTA Operations, you will ensure your team delivers high quality outcomes that meet organisational needs. Your leadership will play a key role in shaping how spatial information is used more broadly across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of GIS professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee team capacity, prioritisation, and workflow management to ensure timely and effective delivery of spatial outputs.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and align GIS support accordingly.
- Drive the growth of GIS capability within the organisation, increasing adoption and accessibility for general employees.
- Guide the team in maintaining high standards of data integrity, governance, and compliance.
- Promote innovation by supporting your team to explore new approaches, tools, and efficiencies.
- Represent the GIS function in cross disciplinary forums, ensuring the team’s work is visible and valued.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
What You’ll Bring
Essential
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing a GIS or technical team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate needs into actionable team outcomes.
- Proven ability to build team capability, provide coaching, and support performance development.
- A commitment to high standards of data governance and operational quality.
- A demonstrable collaborative leadership style with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience managing workflows within an enterprise or multi-project environment.
Desirable
- Degree in GIS, Geospatial Science, or related discipline.
- Proven experience in GIS management and spatial data workflows.
- Exposure to enterprise GIS environments, geospatial tools and cloud-based solutions.
- Understanding of spatial data for mining, infrastructure, or environmental projects.
