Position Title: Head of Studies
Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
This role is responsible for carrying out activities to support the studies within the Projects portfolio. With many projects under evaluation, each with varying complexity, we are seeking candidates from senior up to manager level to lead these studies.
You will be required to provide leadership and champion the provision of all studies in a safe manner, focusing on the FFI Values across all facets of the study outputs.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Assisting Regions with the planning, execution and delivery of planned studies; objectively, efficiently and effectively by executing and coordinating deliverables from across a broad group of technical and support teams and aligned to the business’ study guidelines, including sensitivity and risk analysis for the key drivers
- Liaise with technical support functions to understand risk and opportunities to the proposed operations and to enable timely achievement of study milestones
- Development, lead, and communication of projects prioritisation process
- Working with the leadership team to find and assess innovative solutions that add value within renewables and resources areas
- Assist in building and maintaining processes, tools and systems to analyse options and the impacts to the existing, and potential future, infrastructure and operations to inform business case inputs
- The role will also interact with Region, Country and both internal/external stakeholders and will be expected to effectively manage integration and coordination with global operating activities
- Provide assistance to the Region and Country portfolio commercial approach, including Infrastructure partnerships, compensation and partnership strategies (supporting Communities and Project Readiness team)
- Provide assistance to the Head of Strategy and Contracts and Procurement to translate global offtake agreements, global OEM agreements and strategic contractor and partner relationships, working collaboratively to identify opportunities to enhance business outcomes
- Be the relationship champion between Projects and Regional Presidents, including Country Managers
Qualifications and skills required:
- Relevant Bachelor degree in Engineering [Electrical, Chemical or similar], or/and relevant Masters of Business Administration [MBA]
- Prior senior leadership experience preferably in the renewables and/or resources sector or large complex listed environment
- Enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment in collaboration with other like-minded team members and adjacent project teams
- Practical and solutions focused approach to operational, engineering and design challenges
- Strong project management and commercial experience
- Previous experience on feasibility studies advantageous
- Strong interpersonal skills with commercial, operations and technical teams
- Team orientation and strong ability to take initiative
