About the role

We are looking for a Global Network Services Manager to govern, manage and ensure effective implementation and operations of various Global Network Services contracts. This position entails the development and management portfolio and finances of Network Platforms budgets, vendor management, compliance management and ensuring that Network Platforms delivers our fiscal and technical commitments to the business. You will also collaborate closely with our commercial partners and actively explore improvement opportunities for service delivery and our ways of working.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established leader to take the lead in assembling a team of technical and functional SMEs, tasked with the crucial responsibility of overseeing the functional management of services that seamlessly connect Rio Tinto’s global locations.

Reporting to the Network Platforms Lead and working in a collaborative community within our Network Platforms team, you will:

  • Coordinate day to day activities, resource management and vendor management
  • Manage medium to large sized vendor contracts to ensure commercial, operational service levels and safety requirements are met.
  • Lead the establishment of relevant processes and services for Network Platforms and ensure consistent delivery of these services.
  • Deliver end to end visibility of Network Platforms financial, compliance, and vendor SLA’s
  • Lead day to day activities for both resource and vendor management.
  • Achieve organisational objectives through developing and leading workgroups; build strategic relationships across IS&T to achieve organisational objectives.
  • Set the quality, performance, and capability targets in line with organisational goals and IS&T strategic ambition.
  • Support strategic management processes through the aggregation of information and reporting mechanisms.
  • Ensure that all stakeholders are informed and engaged at both the strategic and operational requirements for our Global Network Services.
  • Manage our risks and dependencies with the Networks Platforms team and our IS&T business partners and technical teams i.e., Cyber Security.
  • Ensure operational controls; service level agreements and services are operated and transitioned to support seamlessly.

What you’ll bring

This role emphasizes a strong focus on process orientation and Services. As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • A commitment to the safety and wellbeing of the team and ability to lead by example
  • Experience in contractor, vendor, financial and performance compliance management is an essential prerequisite
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with demonstrated experience leading and building a highly performing team, providing vision, direction, and regular communication to team members
  • Superior stakeholder management, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to negotiate, motivate and solve various issues as they arise
  • The capability and knowledge to challenge the boundaries and bring new ideas to the organisation relating to IT operation optimisation
  • A wealth of expertise in IT Operations, coupled with a track record of progressively increasing responsibility

It would also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience in managing large infrastructure support teams.
  • Knowledge of ITIL principles and processes and system engineering

Mining or Manufacturing industry experience would be advantageous however this is not a deal breaker. Candidates from other industries such as Telecommunications, finance etc with relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
