PERTH OFFICE
South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions, including HR, Finance, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk and Technical. Our office is a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Opportunity - Permanent, Full-Time Position. This role will preferably be based at our office in the heart of the Perth CBD but will consider basing the role in other locations in suitable circumstances. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home).
This is an excellent opportunity for a Government Relations Manager to join the Legal and External Affairs team and provide insight, advice and counsel to the Group Manager, Government and Public Policy and broader South32 leadership regarding Australian and State / Territory Government related and externally driven business/reputational issues.
Reporting to the Group Manager, Government and Public Policy the key role responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- To lead and manage South32’s engagement with Australian State / Territory Government stakeholders
- To represent South32 in senior-level engagement with relevant Australian political and public policy stakeholders
- To protect and improve South32’s reputation through pro-active, relationship-based engagement with relevant political and government stakeholders
- To support South32’s advocacy agenda through the effective coordination of South32’s participation in key industry associations
- To work closely and collaboratively with other members of the External Affairs team in the timely preparation of high-quality briefing material in support of South32’s engagement calendar
ABOUT YOU
- Deep understanding of the Australian Federal and State / Territory Governments, the current political and policy landscape
- Extensive senior level experience in developing government or managing government relationships and engagement with government stakeholders
- Analytical thinking and High-level verbal and written communication skills
- Project management
- Significant experience in a similar role in a large, complex business preferably mining
Qualifications for this position are:
- Tertiary qualification in relevant discipline
