About the role

We have a Data SME position available for a professional who is passionate about leading the design, implementation, and optimization of data solutions that support the company's strategic objectives aligned to the Extract GPO & Process GPO, the GPOs for Mining and Processing (utilizing SAP Manufacturing and Quality Management). This role is integral to Rio Tinto’s Modern ERP program, supporting Extract & Process data Integration and Optimisation

Reporting to the Extract & Process GPO Workstream Lead and working in a collaborative community within our Modern ERP programme, your key responsibilities will be: 

  • Ensuring integration between the ERP and Extract & Process systems to enable seamless data flow and alignment with operational needs 

  • Shaping data initiatives that enable and enhance Extract & Process business processes, ensuring alignment with Extract & Process objectives 

  • Ensuring that our Modern ERP solution supports Extract & Process and Sustainability data and reporting requirements into the future 

  • Supporting data migration from legacy systems to SAP S/4HANA, including data mapping and validation 

  • Acting as a bridge between technical and business teams to deliver effective, actionable data solutions 

  • Promoting data quality governance and monitoring performance improvements to enhance efficiency 

What you’ll bring  

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team  

  • Solid experience in roles that focus on data, or business analysis, ideally with exposure to ERP systems and large-scale data initiatives, with functional experience aligned to the GPO, (RTBS MMP). 

  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, data architecture, and database management systems 

  • Functional experience aligned to the GPOs including good understanding of master data and transactional objects in SAP PP and QM (RTBS MMP).

About Modern ERP   

You may know Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) by the name SAP or Rio Tinto Business System (RTBS).  

What is our Modern ERP doing? We’re simplifying our systems and redesigning our core business processes across Rio to make it easier for our people to get their job done. We’ll be upgrading our Rio Tinto Business System (RTBS) from old technology to a new version.  

To become Best Operator, we need to transform how we operate and how we use technology. A digitally enabled platform means we can access advanced technology, data-driven insights, and automation.
