About us

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is a South32 Company, the operation is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.
Graduate Program
Our Graduate program is tailored to provide you with a unique learning opportunity that will help you develop all the foundational skills to set you up for your future career at South32.
When you join the South32 Graduate Program you will:
- Receive a personalised graduate passport to guide your development pathway over the 2-year graduate program.
- Your unique career pathway will include rotations to build your technical and professional skills.
- Lead an improvement initiative which has genuine business impact.
- Participate in a 3-day residential experience with graduates from across our global operations.

Eligibility
- Final year students or students that have recently graduated within the last 2 years, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science (or equivalent discipline).
- Applicants must have the right to live and work in Australia (Citizen or Permanent Resident).
- Full open Australian driver’s licence (including manual).
The position is full-time 4:3 (Monday through Thursday) on a FIFO roster from Darwin or Cairns to Groote Eylandt.
