This is an exciting opportunity to provide specialist Environmental support across two of Silver Lake’s underground Gold Mines; Deflector and Rothsay. These established operations within the Silver Lake group are located 80km apart in the prolific Mid-West wildflower region of Western Australia, approximately 160km inland from Geraldton.

THE ROLE:

Your key responsibility as Graduate Environmental Advisor will be to provide support in facilitating site environmental compliance. Under the guidance and mentorship of the established on-site Environmental team, you will provide technical advice and assistance to operational personnel to meet the Environment Policy objectives.

Key responsibilities of your role will include:

  • Conduct environmental monitoring, communicating outcomes to internal stakeholders
  • Assist with allocation of internal and external resources to ensure compliances are achieved
  • Provide assistance with cultural heritage management issues
  • Contribute to the preparation of environmental approvals
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the Environmental Management System
  • Prepare internal environmental reports, and assist with the preparation of external reporting requirements
  • Assist with site inspections and audits
  • Prepare accurate and detailed area maps as required using GIS software
  • Deliver environmental training and awareness material
  • Ensure surface disturbance is managed effectively
  • Support stakeholders to conduct rehabilitation  in line with mine closure commitments
  • Meaningfully engage with internal and external stakeholders on environmental concerns or issues

ABOUT YOU:

As a practical and personable Environmental professional, you will bring your exceptional communication skills and strong customer focus to this dynamic and challenging role. You have a positive attitude and a demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds to achieve win-win outcomes.

In addition to this you have:

  • Recognised Tertiary Degree in a relevant Environmental discipline
  • Established report writing skills and MS office knowledge
  • Basic technical understanding of monitoring equipment and interpretation of analytic results
  • Basic knowledge of practical environmental impact mitigation strategies and implementation
  • Hold a current C Class driver's license (manual)

Desirable experience includes:

  • A fundamental understanding of WA Environment Legislation and approval processes
  • Previous exposure to management system (INX) databases (InViron, InControl, InForm)
  • Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS preferred)
  • Experience in wildlife handling / snake relocation
  • Basic knowledge of rehabilitation practices
  • Recognised 4WD training and Senior First Aid Certificate.
  • Previous Emergency Response experience

This is an excellent opportunity to develop all-round environmental skills in a practical mining environment with the opportunity to undertake a variety of environmental activities at two operational sites. This role is offered on either a 15:13 or 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth, with a competitive market salary offered to the successful applicant.
