King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. Undergoing significant expansion, KOTH is nearing completion of a 7.5 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant (previously 5.2Mtpa), providing a solid platform for long-term production growth.. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.
Reporting to the Senior Tailings Storage Facilities Engineer, the Graduate TSF Engineer supports the safe and efficient management of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) and water systems across their lifecycle, including construction, operation, monitoring, and reporting.
The role is responsible for executing field-based and analytical tasks related to TSF performance, including inspections, instrumentation monitoring, data management, project contractor oversight and reporting. The Graduate TSF Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that TSFs operate safely, remain compliant, and support continuous plant production, while also contributing to effective site water management through water balance monitoring, bore field surveillance, and management of TSF water systems.
This position will be offered on an 8:6 roster FIFO from Perth
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
TSF Monitoring & Inspection
- Conduct routine TSF inspections (embankments, beaches, decants, pipelines).
- Monitor and record instrumentation data (e.g. VWP, survey, bores).
- Identify and report anomalies, non-conformances, or potential risks.
- Enter and maintain inspection records and actions in systems (e.g. INX).
TSF Operations Support
- Assist with daily operational checks, (Freeboard levels, Water management, Deposition conditions).
- Support implementation of TSF Operating Manual and TARPs
- Communicate operational issues to Senior TSF Engineer
TSF Construction Support
- Assist with on-site coordination during TSF lift construction
- Track construction progress, materials usage, and quality control data
- Support contractor management at a site execution level
- Assist in preparation of construction reports and documentation
Water Management Support
- Collect and compile site water data (inflows, outflows, returns)
- Update and maintain water balance models under supervision
- Support monitoring of bore field and TSF water systems
- Assist in identifying trends or risks related to water availability
Data Management & Reporting
- Compile monitoring, inspection, and operational data
- Prepare draft reports (weekly/monthly TSF reporting)
- Generate charts, figures, and summaries for review
- Maintain accurate, structured records for audits and compliance
About You
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering (or equivalent in Mining, Geotechnical or Environmental Engineering).
- Demonstrates a proactive and genuine commitment to personal safety and the safety of those around them, supported by a sound working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2020 and Regulations 2022.
- Exposure to earthworks construction, geotechnical principles, or water management fundamentals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the capability to confidently engage, influence, and collaborate at all levels of the organisation and escalate when required.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and previous Exposure to CAD, survey data, or monitoring systems.
- Hold a current WA Driver’s License (manual C Class).
