ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

As the Operator Haulage, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a road train combination to transport bulk ore, while managing ancillary equipment to facilitate material movement safely and efficiently.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Transporting bulk ore from concentrator to Port/CPS using belly dumpers and side tippers
• Ensuring safe work areas using Mobile equipment – Front end Loaders, grader, street sweeper, and water cart
• Adhering to quality control instructions for effective material handling
• Engaging with internal suppliers and customers to optimise haulage operations
• Conducting required activities according to the Production Plan

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Operating road trains and mobile equipment in haulage operations
• Experience in 18 speed Road Ranger, Quad Road Trains and Side Tipping essential
• Maintaining high safety and environmental standards whilst working in a fast-paced environment
• Communicating effectively and contributing to teamwork and problem-solving initiatives
• Strong mechanical aptitude & problem-solving skills with drive to learn

Qualifications for this position are: 

• MC Licence
• First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain)
