As a result, we are actively recruiting a Head of Business Development who thrives in complex environments and wants their work to directly influence large-scale mining success.

Reporting to our Vice President of Growth & Emerging Markets, as our Head of Business Development, you will work closely with senior leaders across Australia, North America and Africa, developing and implementing tender governance, opportunity prioritisation and performance analytics to ensure our growth efforts are focused, disciplined and consistently converted into secured work.

What will your day-to-day look like?

• Lead the development, governance and performance of Barminco's global business development pipeline, ensuring alignment with strategic growth priorities.
• Drive structured lead generation and market intelligence activities, translating insights into actionable pursuit strategies.
• Establish and maintain robust tender governance frameworks, including bid selection, prioritisation, approval processes and performance reviews.
• Coordinate business development activities across multiple regions, balancing competing priorities and ensuring resources are focused on the highest-value opportunities.
• Develop and monitor key performance metrics including pipeline quality, conversion rates, bid efficiency and growth forecasting.
• Partner closely with Operations, Commercial, Finance, Legal, People and HSE teams to develop compelling work-winning strategies.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives by embedding lessons learned, refining processes and strengthening business development systems and tools.
• Provide senior leadership with clear, data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making and growth planning.

Our ideal candidate background includes

• Significant experience leading business development, growth or portfolio management within complex project-based industries.
• Strong understanding of tendering processes, governance frameworks, commercial evaluation and opportunity management.
• Demonstrated success managing large-scale opportunity pipelines and improving conversion performance through structured processes and analytics.
• Experience coordinating and influencing senior stakeholders across multiple functions and geographic regions.
• Strong analytical capability with the ability to transform data and market intelligence into actionable business decisions.
• Proven ability to establish governance, prioritisation discipline and accountability across business development activities.
• Experience within mining, resources, infrastructure, engineering or related industries will be highly regarded.
• Exposure to executive-level governance, strategic planning and growth management is advantageous.
