About the Role - Job Description
Reporting to the Vice President, Enterprise and Global Technology, this senior leadership role leads a globally dispersed team, and holds end-to-end accountability for the delivery and operation of technology services for BHP’s Global Functions. Your key customers include Finance, External Affairs, Human Resources and Commercial (Inbound Supply and Marketing & Maritime) and you will operate under a DevOps model which has recently been implemented to bring people, process, and technology together to drive continuous value.
Key to your success will be the ability to collaborate and build and maintain relationships with key Functional and Technology stakeholders and draw upon the technical expertise within each domain. While some of the key products within your remit include Success Factors, Microsoft Dynamics and PowerApps, there is no expectation you will be a computer scientist. What will set you apart is your ability to negotiate and influence, while managing capacity and demand, and your ability to work with key stakeholders to build strategic technology roadmaps that align the Functional strategy with Technology’s priorities of Cloud & Data. You will foster a high-performing team culture, with a strong focus on operational excellence, continuous improvement and operating hygiene.
Alongside the internal Product teams, you will closely partner with strategic vendors who deliver and maintain functional technology services. You will also build relationships with key software vendors, to influence future roadmaps in line with the needs of our customers and Technology.
This is a global search with the role able to be based in Perth, Adelaide, or Brisbane – Australia or Singapore (if candidate already possesses Singapore working rights).
About You - Skills and Qualifications
You are a performance-focused leader who can drive operating discipline, personal accountability, and continuous improvement. You will empower your team and maintain a level of oversight over the implementation of secure technology solutions, with projects that are delivered on-time, every-time, while maintaining safe and stable operations. You won’t be afraid to escalate often and early, and always act with humility and can work effectively at senior management levels.

You will be able to demonstrate strong business acumen and understand the key value drivers of the organisation. You will have strong leadership and excellent communication skills and are comfortable having difficult conversations with senior internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements
Minimum requirements that this candidate will bring are:
- Tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s Degree) in any discipline
- Relevant experience in the Corporate Functions or Technology in a multi-national, matrixed organisation
- Proven experience leading and influencing direct and indirect teams and internal/external stakeholders
- Ability to excel within decentralised teams and dispersed/diverse stakeholders
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A track record of building an inclusive, high-performing culture across multiple locations and disciplines to deliver outcomes; including third-party vendors
Accountabilities
Your accountabilities will include, and not be limited to:
- Partners and delivers upon the technology requirements for the Finance, External Affairs, Human Resources and Commercial communities and provides the non-ERP platforms for the Group.
- Enabling Change: Partners with cross-functional stakeholders to address changing customer needs / expectations, identify improvement opportunities and to remove shared barriers to change. Enables the standardisation of best practice and end-to-end process outcomes across teams.
- Enabling Creative Solutions: Brings multidisciplinary teams together to collaboratively solve and implement solutions to systemic problems, challenging others to boldly experiment with new ideas and apply approaches to deliver improvements.
- Inclusion & Understanding: Embeds a culture of care and belonging for all team members, seeks and actions feedback on how they can create a safe and inclusive team culture with humility (e.g. through go-and-see). Promotes the recognition of positive behaviours within and across their team/s.
- Coaching & Feedback: Actively develops others' capability by coaching, providing feedback, facilitating learning activities and upskilling leaders to have difficult conversations. Implements workforce interventions to address capability gaps and anticipated future capability requirements.
- Makes risk-informed decisions: Constructively challenges assumptions considering risk and reward across a range of strategic choices in order to drive risk informed decisions accordingly.

- Tracks the delivery of work: Reviews project performance and adapts plans, altering cost, timing or quality constraints in line with stakeholder expectations to continually maximise the value add across multiple projects.
- Establishing Plans & Priorities: Challenges priorities and plans to validate they are focused on what matters most and that they stretch performance expectations. Partners with cross-functional stakeholders to identify and facilitate the co-design of solutions that proactively meet customer needs/expectations.
- Setting Direction & Context: Looks to the mid-term future (3-5 years) to shape the vision and inspire commitment by bringing team members/key partners on the journey and connecting complex change efforts to the purpose, strategy and stakeholder contexts.
- Self-Awareness: Fosters a culture that encourages curiosity, learning, an openness to change and reflection. Maintains a strong internal/external network to support personal insight and growth.
- Effective Communication: Energises and engages large stakeholder groups through succinct, clear and relevant two-way communication, filtering messages through BHP in a way that inspires and resonates with a diverse workforce and people at all levels.
- Makes sound commercial decisions: Challenges and negotiates with BHP's suppliers and partners to create opportunities to save cost/improve productivity and deliver the best outcomes for BHP's shareholders, customers, community and people.
