Role overview:
Reporting to the Superintendent Health and Safety, you will be responsible for supporting a dynamic mining operation by consulting with key stakeholders on the development, implementation and improvement of the Health and Safety programs and systems. You will foster strong relationships with our Contracting Partners and ensure alignment with Fortescue Health and Safety systems.
Your role will also see yourself coach and mentor leaders and peers in safety excellence whilst ensuring risk management processes are in place for the monitoring and reduction of health and safety risks. You will play an active part in the Fortescue Contractor Management audit process, the implementation of the Fortescue Major Hazard Program and participate in safety inspections.
Key responsibilities include:
- Engage with Leaders to provide advice in achieving the objectives of the strategic plan for HSES performance
- Participate in the control of identified hazards where appropriate
- Provide assistance and guidance in the investigation of incidents
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of Health and Safety initiatives and promotional material
- Liaise with line management, consultants and Government bodies
- Assist the operations with Fortescue's Incident Management System (BMS)
Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrated substantial Safety Advisor experience in an operational environment (mining or construction)
- Relevant Occupational Health & Safety qualifications
- Experience in risk management
- Safety auditing qualification (Lead Auditor) and an awareness of the Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations
- Demonstrated experience in contractor management and ICAM investigations
- Experience in procedural (safety) development
