About the Role

We currently have job share opportunity to join our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) BMA team based in Brisbane or the Bowen Basin with ad hoc travel to our operations. The Principal role is responsible for providing leadership, coaching and expert advice to the BMA Coal Operations and key stakeholders on health and wellbeing. This role will report to the Superintendent Health and Hygiene.

This is a 0.5 job share arrangement and can be offered in Brisbane or the Bowen Basin.

 As the successful candidate, you will;

  • Manage complex injury, illness case management, return to work, rehabilitation and workers compensation processes.
  • Provide expert technical advice and coaching on classification and non-complex case management 
  • Maintain strong internal and external relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Project manage the development of risk and data led proactive health and wellbeing initiatives. 
  • Have a growth mindset to improve our Health standards, procedures and systems to deliver efficiencies.
  • Contribute to Health and Wellbeing Steering Committee’s and participate in global health initiatives and industry workshops.
  • Partner with Occupational Hygiene to provide high level technical advice to reduce workplace exposures.
  • Maintain key medical and allied health services through contract management.

About You

To be successful in the Health Principal role, you will have;

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline with APHRA or ESSA or similarly related registration – OHS, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology, human movements, ergonomics, human factors.  
  • Experience working in a large complex environment ideally within mining or heavy industry. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to effectively engage and coach at all levels of an organisation.
  • Relevant experience in systemic management of Occupational Health, and partnering with Occupational Hygiene in a substantial business.  
  • Working knowledge of both Queensland workers compensation and Queensland mining health and safety legislation.   
  • Personal resilience to act as the subject matter expert on health matters in a fast-paced environment utilising current evidence-based practice.
