We are currently recruiting for a Health Risk and Injury Advisor to create safer, healthier workplaces across Barmincos global underground mining operations. You’ll be the go - to partner for site leaders, identifyinghealth risks early, preventing injuries before they happen, and actively supporting when they do. Blend data insight with boots‑on‑ground action to drive early intervention, fitness‑for‑work support, and practical controls that meet both operational priorities and legislative requirements. From psychosocial health to critical risk management, you’ll help shape a proactive, sustainable safety culture that cares for our people and our projects safely producing. The role will be based at our Hazelmere office and is being offered as a permanent full time position.
What you’ll do
- Provide practical advice on occupational health risks, injury trends, fitness for work, and workforce health initiatives across multiple sites.
- Drive early intervention for work and non-work injuries to improve recovery and minimise operational impact.
- Review pre-employment medicals and give risk-based fitness-for-work recommendations.
- Analyse injury, health, and claims data to spot trends, critical risks, and opportunities for targeted reduction.
- Partner with site leaders and clients to implement proactive injury reduction and sustainable work practices.
- Uplift and standardise occupational health and injury procedures, standards, and governance.
- Coordinate treatment pathways; engage with a broad range of health service providers and insurers to support recovery and return-to-work outcomes.
- Develop and monitor tailored return-to-work and recover-at-work plans aligned to legislation and site needs.
- Coach leaders on fitness-for-work, injury support processes, and health risk strategies.
- Conduct workplace and task-based risk reviews; recommend practical controls.
- Support psychosocial and physical health initiatives in collaboration with other functions and operations.
- Participate in incident investigations and reviews where health or fitness-for-work factors are present.
- Help design and deliver training on injury reduction, early intervention, and occupational health responsibilities.
- Participate in an on-call roster to provide after-hours support when required.
What you’ll bring
- You will have a proven track record reducing operational health risks in mining or heavy industry and can confidently influence frontline leaders and stakeholders to deliver stronger health and injury outcomes. You bring a solid command of health and safety management and practical, on-the-ground controls, paired with the ability to interpret injury and health data to spot trends and drive targeted improvements. Your experience spans fitness-for-work, fatigue, psychosocial risk, and broader occupational health programs in high-risk settings, underpinned by working knowledge of injury classification, incident severity frameworks, and workers compensation. You thrive in fast-paced, time-sensitive environments with shifting priorities, staying highly organised and effective while managing multiple cases and initiatives. Above all, you exercise balanced judgment across caring for our people, operational needs, worker wellbeing, and industry best practice. Your qualifications will include Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health, Allied Health, Health Sciences, Human Resources, Rehabilitation, or similar (highly desirable).
