About the Role
BHP currently has exciting opportunity to join the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team in the role of Health Specialist. Currently roles are available on a permanent and fixed term basis, FIFO and Perth based (with frequent site travel). You will be responsible for providing technical expertise in injury prevention and injury management activities. Through collaborating with the customer and building strong relationships with key stakeholders to create a culture that prioritizes key health activities, you will work to reduce occupational-related health risks, and to deliver health promotion that encourages a mentally healthy workforce.
You will be required to:
- Support personnel who become injured or ill at work through an effected return to work approach and provide updates to leadership in line with data privacy requirements.
- Provide technical expertise in injury prevention and injury management activities.
- Maintain health reporting and execute data integrity and governance activities.
- Develop a working knowledge of legislative health reporting and the injury and illness classifications that apply to your work areas, utilising company standards and OSHA / WHS reporting guidelines.
- Maintain mutually beneficial relationships with medical and allied health providers.
Location and Roster
Permanent and Fixed Term positions, on fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) from Perth to the Pilbara and Perth based roles (with frequent site travel). BHP is a flexible workplace and supports flexible work arrangements and a conversation on flexible work options is encouraged and will be considered.
About You
To be successful in the Health Specialist role you will have a genuine desire to help people achieve positive health and wellbeing outcomes, combined with a clear understanding of the importance that the resources sector places on health and wellbeing management of our most important asset – our people. You will be able to work closely and share workload with your team but also be comfortable working autonomously when required and make informed decisions. You will be motivated by a fast-paced environment and the opportunity to problem solve and drive positive change.
You will also have:
- Tertiary qualifications and proven experience in a health-related discipline (e.g. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Nursing)
- Minimum 3 years mining experience in health/ Injury management roles
- Working knowledge of relevant Health related legislation across Australia and coordinating workers compensation case management
- Experience delivering health strategies and injury and illness prevention initiatives.
- A commitment to coaching, influencing, and encouraging a mentally healthy workforce.
