About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the WA Iron Ore Health, Safety and Security (HSS) – Functions team as a Health Specialist. This role partners with line leadership to provide coaching, technical expertise, and advice on injury prevention, injury management, and Workers Compensation claims.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support WAIO Functions personnel who become injured or ill at work through effective return-to-work strategies, while maintaining data privacy in leadership updates.
  • Provide technical expertise in injury prevention and injury management.
  • Maintain health reporting and ensure data integrity and governance.
  • Develop working knowledge of legislative health reporting and applicable injury/illness classifications, using company standards and OSHA/WHS guidelines.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with medical and allied health providers.

Location and Roster

This is a 12-month secondment or fixed-term position, based in Perth, working Monday to Friday.

About You

You are a collaborative team player with a passion for health and safety, and a strong track record in injury management. You bring excellent communication and engagement skills, and thrive in both autonomous and team environments. Your ability to build relationships and deliver results will be key to your success in this role.

You will be responsible for establishing injury and illness case management in accordance with BHP’s internal requirements and relevant legislation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in a health-related discipline (e.g. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Nursing)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar health and/or injury management role
  • Working knowledge of relevant health legislation across Australia and Workers Compensation case management
  • Experience delivering health strategies and injury/illness prevention initiatives
  • Genuine desire to support positive health and wellbeing outcomes
  • Commitment to coaching and promoting a mentally healthy workforce
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to triage, make informed decisions, and solve problems effectively
