About the Role
The role will be based at either our Jimblebar or Newman Operations mine sites in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, on a fly in-fly out, 8 day on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off roster.
Jimblebar is an open-cut pit iron ore mine located 40 kilometres east of Newman, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people. The rollout of BHP’s first fully autonomous haul truck fleet at Jimblebar was completed in 2017 resulting in reduced risk exposure to driving-related hazards, improved productivity and an opportunity for our workforce to gain new skills.
Newman Operations is part of Western Australian Iron Ore and consists of two mining sites in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, on the traditional lands of the Nylyaparli people.
In your role your primary duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, attending breakdowns and running complex diagnostics/testing and fault finding of mobile fleet
- Identifying and rectifying faults during inspections and following specific maintenance programs
- Initiating updates to work procedures to ensure they are accurate and relevant to equipment
- Providing input into root cause analysis and subsequent resolution of issues affecting equipment reliability
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and assist in the implementing of the new initiatives in a constructive way
- Demonstrating a focus on safety, achievement and team engagement in all aspects of work
About You
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
- Australian Recognised Heavy Mechanical Qualifications
- Technically/mechanically sound skills with Leibherr, Cat, Cummins and/or Epiroc is highly sought after
- Demonstrated diagnostics and breakdown experience with ideally both trucks & ancillary equipment
- Dogging, Rigging and Forklift Licenses are desirable
- A commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail and procedure
- Computer literacy and/or experience in 1SAP
- Safety first mentality
