About the Role
Jimblebar Mobile Equipment Maintenance are advertising for 2 rare opportunities within the division as a Breakdown Fitter.
Reporting to the Breakdown Supervisor, you will work both in the workshop and in the pit when required.
As a candidate who enjoys working in field as a highly competent breakdown fitter, you pride yourself on your knowledge of CAT with a strong competency of 793F Dump Trucks & 785 Water Carts. Additionally, you:-
- Hold extensive in-field experience and knowledge diagnostics and repairs of 793F Dump Trucks & 785 Water Carts, as the role will see you predominantly in field working autonomously to troubleshoot breakdowns on this equipment at majority.
- Hold additional field (and workshop) based diagnostic and breakdown experience and knowledge gained from your experience in a similar role as you will work on other plant/equipment breakdowns for the MEM division where required (Service Trucks for example)
- Following specific safety measures and procedures and carrying out checks on equipment as required.
- Ensure accurate completion of technical documentation, reports and drawings as required.
- Be comfortable in the use of computerised maintenance systems (SAP), including time confirmations, raising notifications and closing work orders.
- Take personal responsibility for helping the team achieve expected results by doing what is required and taking timely actions within the scope of competence without being supervised.
- Undertake training on a regular basis and provide support and coaching to work mates within area of competence.
- Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with rescheduling of work, organising and coordinating resources, scoping of work and determining priorities when required.
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and assist in the implementing of the new initiatives in a constructive way.
- Contribute to the positive culture of the division by demonstrating you work with trust, confidence, ethics, knowledge, urgency, approachability and enthusiasm.
About You
- Australian Recognised Heavy Diesel Trade Certificate
- Strong heavy vehicle mechanical fitting maintenance competency, with sound diagnostic abilities (Cat, Cummins knowledge adv.)
- Demonstrated breakdowns experience specifically working with CAT 793F Dump Trucks & 785 Watercarts is sought after
- C Class Drivers Licence (HR highly Desirable)
- Desirable - Forklift Licence · EWP, Working at Heights, CV (Hiab), CN (Non Slewing Crane), Dogman, Confined Space
- Intermediate computer skills
- Ability to work of schematic drawings
- Strong presentation, communication and coaching skills demonstrating the values and traits listed above
Location
You will be based at our Jimblebar mine site in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, on a fly-in fly-out, 8 day on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off roster. Our FIFO villages have a wide range of facilities and all rooms have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning to help you unwind, relax and sleep well. We know the more time you can spend at home the better, so in addition to our flights out of Perth, our Jimblebar and Newman operations are now offering those that live in WA’s beautiful South West region direct flights from Busselton.
Jimblebar is an open-cut pit iron ore mine located 40 kilometres east of Newman, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people. The rollout of BHP’s first fully autonomous haul truck fleet at Jimblebar was completed in 2017 resulting in reduced risk exposure to driving-related hazards, improved productivity and an opportunity for our workforce to gain new skills.
Jimblebar was the very first mine site to become fully autonomous at BHP.
