About the Roles

BHP WA Iron Ore is one of the world's leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company's operations currently involve an integrated system of seven inland mines, more than 1,000 kilometres of rail and two separate port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland.

We are seeking highly skilled Heavy Diesel Fitters to join either Field Maintenance or Mobile Equipment Maintenance (workshop) vacancies across many of our Iron Ore sites. The successful individuals will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and will ideally demonstrate the following:

• Preventative and breakdown maintenance of all mobile equipment by running diagnostics testing and servicing of a broad, modern fleet of plant/equipment & machinery
• Oil changes, testing engine safety, part upgrades, troubleshooting complex breakdowns, performing preventative maintenance and repairing faults
• Initiate updates to work procedures to ensure they are accurate and relevant to equipment
• Provide input into root cause analysis and subsequent resolution of issues affecting equipment reliability
• Complete work orders in a timely manner and as per company standard 
• Complete inspections and repairs as per the maintenance strategies
• Use computerised maintenance systems (1SAP), including time confirmations, to raise notifications and close work orders
• Take personal responsibility for helping the team achieve expected results by doing what is required and taking timely actions within the scope of competence without being supervised.
• Contribute to the cultural harmony of your team through positive communication, pro-active behavior & a commitment to enjoy coming to work, safely

You will have the option to nominate the site/sites of interest at application.

Working in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, our FIFO villages have a wide range of facilities and all rooms have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.   Flights are also available from Bussleton to our Jimblebar and Eastern Ridge mine sites.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:

• Australian Recognised Heavy Diesel Trade Certificate with  experience in a relevant or equivalent role, mining preferred (Earthmoving equipment exposure desired)
• C Class Drivers Licence (HR Desirable)
• Desirable - Forklift Licence · EWP, Working at Heights, CV (Hiab), CN (Non Slewing Crane), Dogman, Confined Space
• Intermediate computer skills
• Ability to work of schematic drawings
• Exposure to FIFO or shift work
• Strong presentation, communication and coaching skills and the ability to work closely in a team environment
• Strong heavy vehicle mechanical fitting maintenance competency, with sound diagnostic abilities
