About the role

We are looking for enthusiastic and strong performing Heavy Duty Diesel Fitters to join the West Pilbara Shut Team in Paraburdoo.

Reporting to the Shutdown Supervisor and working 8 days on 6 days off, 7 nights on 7 days off in a challenging and exciting environment, you will be required to:

  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness and comply with all RTIO Company Policies and procedures
  • Conduct routine inspections of the mobile maintenance fleet and determine repair action when required
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement projects – increasing safety whilst reducing risk & cost
  • Utilise SAP to ensure that maintenance tasks are recorded, assigned correctly and completed to the relevant standard / specification

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • A Heavy-Duty Fitter or Plant Mechanic Trade Certificate
  • Experience in maintaining open cut mobile mining equipment
  • Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding ability
  • High Risk Licences – Forklift, Working at Heights, Dogging, Elevated Work Platforms
  • An Australian manual drivers’ licence

Where you will be working

Greater Paraburdoo is an open pit operation producing high grade ore as part of the integrated system of mines operated by Rio Tinto across the Pilbara. It is comprised of three mines: Paraburdoo, Channar and Eastern Range. The picturesque town of Paraburdoo offers residents a range of leisure facilities and local amenities including a jet-serviced airport. The operation has a predominantly residential workforce and as such has a strong sense of community where you will be a part of something bigger than just a mining business.
