About the role

Take the next step in your mobile maintenance career as a Heavy Maintenance Equipment Inspector within the Mobile Maintenance Asset Health Team at Gudai-Darri.

This role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, ‘hands on’ individual who is looking to take ownership of the fleet by applying their technical knowledge to undertake regular equipment inspections & repairs to our Caterpillar 6060 & 6040 Excavators, Caterpillar 994 & 992 Loaders and Caterpillar ancillary fleet, working with the team of other HME Inspectors and Asset Health Technicians.

The Equipment Inspector is to become the “eyes and ears” of the planning and execution teams, actively monitoring assets and providing regular reports of condition back to the Planning and Execution teams.

Reporting to the Asset Health Supervisor and working 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster from Perth or Busselton you will be required to:

  • Conduct routine inspections on our heavy mobile equipment
  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness and comply with all RTIO Company Policies and procedures
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement projects – increasing safety whilst reducing risk & cost
  • Utilise SAP to ensure that maintenance tasks are recorded, assigned correctly, and completed to the relevant standard / specification 
  • Work autonomously, working on new fleet
  • Good stakeholder engagement- Working in with planning teams to prioritize work required and reviewing outstanding work to be completed to optimise down time on all our fleet
  • Pro-actively seek opportune times to complete inspections to reduce downtime and impact on the business.
  • Work with Mine Ops to schedule inspections each day to minimise impact on production.
  • Ensure all notifications raised are completed to a high standard.
  • Key contributor to building a maintenance schedule that allows the equipment to operate safe & reliably (no breakdowns between services) while minimizing the time of each service (not striving to make the equipment brand new)

The Equipment Inspector is expected too:

  • Pro-actively seek opportune times to complete inspections to reduce downtime and impact on the business.
  • Under the oversight of the Engineer, manage their own scheduled work ensuring 100% compliance each week.
  • Work with Mine Ops to schedule inspections each day to minimise impact on production.
  • Ensure all notifications raised are completed to a high standard.
  • Pro-actively ensure notifications raised are actioned by planning and execution in the appropriate time frame to ensure repair is completed before failure occurs.
  • Where possible assist execution to maximize availabilities i.e. the inspector may have to perform minor repairs (less than 10 minutes) or larger repairs if scheduling permits.
  • Responsible to oversee forward log accuracy
  • Prioritizing the forward log based on risk
  • Key contributor to building a maintenance schedule that allows the equipment to operate safe & reliably (no breakdowns between services) while minimizing the time of each service (not striving to make the equipment brand new)

What you will bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Heavy-Duty Fitter Trade Qualification
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Heavy Mobile Equipment
  • Solid history in surface mining
  • Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
  • Good understanding of SAP maintenance systems or similar
  • An Australian C Class manual drivers’ licence or higher
  • High Risk Licences – Elevated Work Platform, EWP, Forklift
  • Current working rights for Austrlia without requiring sponsorship.
