Locomotive Maintenance Supervisor

Work Location: Port HedlandFortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.

Roster: 4D4N8R FIFO ex Perth of residential in Port Hedland

Reporting to the Locomotive Maintenance Superintendent, this role will be responsible for all aspects of planned and breakdown maintenance for FMG’s Locomotive Fleet with particular focus on Safety, Quality and Efficiency.

You will be accountable for leading a team to execute the weekly schedule with the upmost commitment for all tasks to be performed safely and efficiently.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Ensure compliance to skills training matrix for self and direct reports
  • Identify and rectify hazards
  • Conducting field interactions and completing incident investigation
  • Identify, develop, publish and review SWI's
  • Adherence to the weekly maintenance schedule
  • Ensure safe and efficient breakdown support for mainline locomotive failures
  • Supervision of personnel
  • Ensure all team activities are aligned with the overall business objectives
  • Demonstrate strong safety values

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Proven leadership skills in building and supporting workplace safety culture to achieve zero harm
  • Considerable experience in a similar role gained in locomotives, mobile maintenance or similar background
  • Previous supervisory experience with a minimum 3 years
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft office and computerized maintenance management systems (SAP)
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting Heavy Equipment on board electronic and remote monitoring systems
  • Extensive heavy mobile equipment experience specifically GE Dash 9, EMD SD70 and SD90 Locomotives is desirable but not essential
  • Mechanical or Electrical Trade background and/or Engineering qualification
