About the role
We are looking for a Heritage Approvals Specialist to lead and support key heritage management initiatives that include the preservation and management of cultural heritage and the fulfilment of Traditional Owner (TO) commitments. This permanent role is based in Perth on a Monday- Friday roster, with occasional site travel.
This is an exciting opportunity to:
Coordinate heritage approvals for business activities including cultural heritage management surveys and excavations
Coordinate and finalise external and statutory approval submissions
Lead heritage approval compliance activities for both internal and external systems
Review all heritage fieldwork reports to ensure compliance to approvals requirements
Review and input into the approvals prioritisation plan
Prepare reports for Traditional Owner groups and relevant government bodies on the execution of S16/18s
Receive, analyse and communicate legislative requirements to Traditional Owner Engagement team and other stakeholders
Monitor adherence to S16/ 18 requirements and conditions
Provide infield investigation advice in line with the regulatory requirements
Prepare Heritage Site Information Form lodgements to the Department of Planning, Land and Heritage
Coordinate procedural notifications to Traditional Owner corporations of lodgement preparation, submission and consent receipts
Work with the RTIO Approvals team to prepare, follow up and track all regulatory s16/s18 submissions
About you
To succeed in this role, you will have:
A degree in archaeology, anthropology, cultural heritage studies (or related field), or cultural mapping.
Proven experience in cultural heritage studies and fieldwork, with a focus on heritage consultations and project management, approvals processes, and familiarity with heritage legal frameworks.
Demonstrated knowledge of S16/ 18 requirements and conditions
Proficiency with GIS and heritage information management systems.
Strong stakeholder relationship management skills, including experience engaging with land-connected peoples.
Demonstrated understanding of cultural heritage management planning and scheduling.
Prior exposure with the resources or extractive industries and modes of operation
Experience managing sites of high cultural importance.
