About the role  

We are looking for two Specialist Heritage Liaison team members to join our Communities and Social Performance team here at Rio Tinto.  In this role, you will manage heritage field survey team(s) to ensure fieldwork program is delivered safely. You will be responsible for fieldwork safety, timely incident reporting and ensuring that the Heritage team are adequately resourced and have the required in-field support. You will also coordinate & plan on ground people, equipment, logistics, and in-field safety measure requirements.

Reporting to the Superintendent Fieldwork, you will:  

  • Team roster management
  • Pre-survey execution planning (including LV Prep, consumables etc)
  • Develop IRPs (Initial Response Plans) and Remote and Lone Working
  • Key conduit with site ES Teams prior to mobilisation
  • JESI, GAP – Team movements
  • OJT role – Training and upskilling team, ongoing compliance assessments oversight of mandatory quals
  • Fieldwork on an ad-hoc basis
  • Ensure there is leadership in the field coverage when Superintendent out of office.
  • Manage LV fleet including compliance to C3 standard, AHL LV allocations
  • Attendance at daily survey planning meetings
  • Manage consumables inventory at ATAL and onsite containers
  • Coordinate and review SWPs
  • Manage Asset and fleet utilization, ensure vehicles are adequately equipped with safety gear to manage remote working risk.
  • Support best practice for heritage fieldwork across all areas of RTIO.
  • Support the review of field work safety and incident management procedures
  • Participate in risk assessment workshops and heritage audits to ensure risks associated with work programs are adequately managed.
  • Support implementation of safety maturity model, including safety maturity improvement plans and assessments.
  • Adhere to all Rio Tinto HSEC standards, policies and procedures.
  • Actively foster and communicate a positive safety culture to promote safety awareness and compliance, encouraging prioritisation of safety in all activities and operations.

  • Archeological or Environmental Science degree or background

Where you’ll be working  

These roles are residential based in  Dampier or Karratha, nestled within the Pilbara region of WA. The roster will be offered as an 8 days on, 6 days off (days only) shift.

Our port facilities consist of four shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.
