Heritage Superintendent - Compliance and Operations
Work Location: Fortescue Centre; Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Role overview:
Reporting to the Manager Heritage Compliance and Operations, the Superintendent Heritage Compliance is a key leadership role responsible for providing strategic advice and leadership to the Project and Heritage teams. You will be responsible for the management and monitoring of Fortescue's heritage compliance obligations, both internal and external, across its broad portfolio of iron ore expansion projects. This includes maintaining compliance-related procedures, developing a compliance register and schedule, overseeing and facilitating infield compliance activities; stakeholder engagement and training and assisting and advising on day-to-day heritage compliance matters ensuring a consistent approach. The heritage compliance obligations arise from a range of sources including legislation, heritage approvals and Fortescue’s Native Title and Heritage Agreements.
You will also be responsible for supervising a team of officers responsible for the protection and management of heritage across heritage operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure zero heritage incidents across Fortescue operations by developing and implementing a demarcation strategy and schedule for at risk heritage values.
- Develop and implement educational program to internal and external personnel on the criticality of heritage compliance and the processes used to ensure compliance.
- Oversee on-ground heritage non-compliance investigations, reporting through Fortescue’s Business Management System, and provide a detailed reporting.
- Develop & implement a Zero Harm Compliance Strategy, as well as procedures and processes to meet compliance with heritage obligations.
- Supervise and develop your team.
- Ensure teams are complying with the appropriate Land Management System processes and procedures to meet compliance obligations.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role including working with Aboriginal people.
- Desirable - qualification in archaeology, anthropology, project management or related discipline.
