Our Opportunity

Work Location:   Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge mine is located on the traditional lands of Nyamal people.

Roster: 8D/6R ex Perth

At Fortescue we are in the process of transforming our energy assets to achieve our climate change targets of zero emissions by 2030.

Reporting to the Energy Operations Northern Region Supervisor you will join a technically disciplined team and demonstrate an ability to deliver against a wider variety of Electrical activities which is essential to our team's success.

The Energy Operations portfolio includes:

• A 220kV transmission network extending from Eliwana to Port Hedland
• 11kV and 33kV distribution networks across the Iron Bridge, Solomon, Christmas Creek and Cloudbreak mine sites
• Emergency diesel power stations supporting site and villages
• Fortescue's first 117MW solar farm and battery energy storage systems

By 2028, the portfolio will expand to include:

• 1.2GW of solar generation
• 600MW of wind generation
• 5GWh of battery energy storage
• A total of 620km of transmission 220kV overhead network

This growth will significantly increase the scale of Energy Operations' renewable energy and transmission infrastructure, supporting Fortescue's decarbonisation and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure all maintenance activities are resourced appropriately and executed in accordance with the maintenance strategy
• Carry out planned and routine maintenance activities on a broad range of electrical equipment for the transmission, distribution and generation assets
• Diagnosing and fault finding on all equipment within the Energy Operations battery limits.
• Commitment to high quality safety and continuous improvement practices
• Use of SAP to ensure that maintenance tasks are recorded, assigned correctly and completed to the relevant standard / specification.

Qualifications and Experience

• Electrical trade qualification – WA Electrical Licence
• High Voltage Switching certificate with relevant network switching experience
• Current High Risk work licence – WP, LF
• Current C Class drivers licence, HR - Desirable
• Working at heights trained
• PLC, ComAp control system operation - desirable
• Experience with all aspects of HV power distribution and transmission systems
• Experience in large scale transmission networks and operation of Siemens GIS switchgear would be an advantage. 
• Career development as a step-up Electrical Supervisor - Desirable
