We are looking for a Heavy Mobile Equipment Component Sourcing Strategist to provide consistent major component supply support to all Rio Tinto Iron Ore sites.This role is a great opportunity to support the management of major HME component supply to all 16 of our Pilbara Mine sites, work with our Planning and Engineering teams across RTIO to maximise efficiencies in equipment availability and reliability against budget and Production targets. Additional responsibilities include working with consultants and projects teams when necessary to ensure that the standardisation is broadly and appropriately applied, reducing production loss through equipment downtime.
Reporting to the Principal Advisor HME Maintenance, you will:
- Coordinate the supply of planned major HME components with our Site Planners and vendors.
- Assist site maintenance teams source alternative components when required.
- Strive to eliminate waste and reduce operating costs through due diligence within the purchasing process.
- Finding and setting up alternative suppliers when required.
- Participate in & embrace “continuous improvement” mindset.
- Coach and guide site HME personnel as required.
- Support prioritisation of components and operating spend to remediate and maintain optimal Production outputs.
- Assist with risk assessments in other teams where required.
- Assist Warranty Team and Engineering teams with investigation into issues associated with HME components when required.
- Support Rio Tinto Procurement with contract management / execution across all RTIO sites related to HME parts.
- Reduce the business risk of failure of major components by promoting and supporting change management.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Mobile Mining Equipment knowledge with a trade background preferred.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills and effective stakeholder management.
- SAP experience is preferred.
- A high level of competency with risk-based approach to asset management.
- Experience with the development and application of maintenance plans.
- Understanding of HME asset management in a Pilbara mining environment

You can take advantage of an ideal combination of working remotely, from home as well as spending face-to-face time with your colleagues on a regular basis at our state-of-the-art Operations Centre (OC) located near the Perth domestic airport. You can also expect the occasional meeting at our head office located at Central Park Building in Perth CBD, with site travel required from time-to-time.
