Reliability Engineer - HME

Work Location: Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.

Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth

Role overview:

Currently seeking Reliability Engineers to provide direct technical and maintenance engineering support for site-based maintenance activities. Assist maintenance department to make well-informed maintenance decisions to reach cost-effective solutions with minimal impact to production requirements. Analyse failures to determine root cause and proactively implement maintenance regimes to prevent reoccurrences.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Daily interaction with supervisors and workshop personnel for “hands on” input into strategies and improvement ideas.
  • Review and further interrogate daily, weekly, monthly reports and KPI’s to identify common faults and trends to apply problem solving and root cause analysis, with a continual improvement focus.
  • Provide reliability support to all sites to ensure that equipment is being maintained in accordance with our maintenance strategies and WOL plans.
  • Actively participate in the planning process to ensure that assumptions & targets are technically feasible (as applicable).
  • Propose improvement ideas based on detailed examination of anticipated or recurring issues of a technical or specialist nature
  • Identify and recommend critical spares that are required to ensure optimal performance of HME assets and their forecast maintenance plans

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • 2 years’ + experience in a heavy mobile maintenance environment desired 
  • Experience in mineral processing environment or similar
  • Knowledge of excavators, haul trucks, drills (Cat, Liebherr & Epiroc)
  • Strong communication with a self-starter attitude
  • Caterpillar mining equipment and autonomous systems is desirable 
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Trade certification in a Mechanical Discipline
