An exciting opportunity for a proactive & experienced HR Advisor to join the Yarrabee Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

- Site based role on an Open Cut Coal Mine

- Based in Blackwater QLD
We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia. Owned by Yancoal, Yarrabee is a proud producer of high-quality PCI coal since 1982. We employ approximately 400 people, who are our most valuable asset.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting to the HR Manager, this critical role partners with frontline leaders to deliver strategic and operational HR support, drive a high-performance culture and embed the values of the Yarrabee Way and Yancoal Our Way. As a trusted advisor to the front-line leaders, you will:
- Support and coordinate key HR initiatives across the employee lifecycle
- Provide coaching to leaders
- Assist and lead investigations to resolve employee matters
- Implement HR strategies that support continuous improvement and alignment with the site’s Plan on a Page.
Skills and Experience
You’re a people-focused HR professional with strong communication skills and the ability to influence across the business. You thrive in fast-paced, operational environments and have a passion for building capability, driving culture and delivering HR outcomes that make a difference.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field (or equivalent HR experience).
- A minimum of 5 years' HR generalist experience, ideally within mining, energy or similar industries.
- Strong knowledge and experience in:- Employee lifecycle management - Providing coaching and advice to frontline leaders on performance, conduct and leave matters- Managing employee and industrial relations matters - Driving employee engagement, cultural initiatives and wellbeing programs
- Working knowledge of the Fair Work Act and Black Coal Award.
- Strong relationship-building skills with a focus on collaboration and influencing.
- High attention to detail with strong reporting and data analysis capabilities.
- Previous experience with SAP and high proficiency in Microsoft Office is highly regarded.
- A current driver’s licence is required
