About the role 

This is a permanent full-time role being offered on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

Reporting to the Manager Human Resources, you will provide operational support and an advisory service to our Leaders at GEMCO in making good people decisions across the employee lifecycle. This includes a focus on building strong teams and driving the South32 culture.

Some of your main responsibilities will include: 

• Assist employees and line leaders with the interpretation and education of internal policies, procedures, and process to ensure compliance with HR standards.
• Provide advice to employees on conditions of employment and entitlements under relevant industrial instruments
• Conduct disciplinary grievances on HR investigations
• Act as a central support function for payroll matters
• Collaborate with other members of the HR team to develop and implement HR initiatives and programs

About you

You will have experience working in a HR Generalist role within Mining or Heavy industry and bring sound knowledge of Awards and Award interpretation.

To be considered for the role, you will have:

• Relevant HR qualification in Human Resources or appropriate experience
• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
• Excellent communication and consultative skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to present information in an engaging and effective manner, across all levels of the business
• Outcome focused working style
