About the role

We're seeking a HR Advisor to join the commercial PEX team for a full time opportunity.

This role presents a great opportunity for a seasoned HR professional to partner with predominantly senior business stakeholders across a global remit.

As an HR Advisor, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive human resource support to leaders and employees within our organisation. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the fair and consistent application of Human Resources (HR) policies, procedures, and processes, while also offering guidance to enhance people effectiveness and employee engagement within Rio Tinto.

This will include implementing regular feedback and recognition systems, promoting benefits programs, and ensuring effective communication channels.

Reporting to the HR Manager, Commercial you will:

  • Build and foster strong partnerships with portfolio stakeholders and shared service partners to enhance collaboration and trust.

  • Driving change with a focus on continuous improvement and challenging the status quo

  • Advise and coach leaders on employee relations matters, with a focus on early intervention and people-centric approaches to boost engagement.

  • Contribute to HR projects and organisational and cultural change initiatives that drive employee involvement and commitment.

  • Build leader capability in HR systems and processes to ensure leaders are equipped to engage their teams effectively.

  • Demonstrate commitment and understanding of business needs as a trusted partner, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose among employees.

  • Exhibit depth in critical thinking, prioritisation, and problem-solving to address employee concerns and enhance engagement.

  • Navigate competing priorities effectively to maintain focus on employee engagement and satisfaction.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience in human resources with a comprehensive knowledge of generalist HR activities

  • A Demonstrated understanding of Australian Employment Law framework and best practice application of relevant legislation

  • Be a natural communicator with stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence whilst providing guidance and support to leaders and employees on a range of HR matters.

  • Capacity and versatility to operate in a large and dynamic organisation which involves delivering business objectives remotely and across a diverse workforce

  • Resilience and the ability to thrive in a continuous improvement culture and have a strong commitment to team-based processes and outcomes

  • Extensive experience in complex workplace investigations and advising on performance management practices

  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organisation and possess strong coaching and influencing abilities.
