Yancoal are currently seeking a HR Superintendent on a 12 month fixed term contract to manage the HR function for the Ashton, Austar and Abel Mine Sites. 

About the Business

  • True HR Generalist role with the ability to work across multiple sites
  • 12 month fixed term contract
  • Based at Camberwell NSW 

​​​​​​​We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia. Ashton Coal Mine is an Underground Mine situated at Camberwell in the Hunter Valley region. Part of the Yancoal Australia Group, Ashton is mined via longwall extraction methods operating 24 hours per day 7 days per week. The underground mine extracts approximately 3.2Mtpa of ROM coal per year. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Ashton Coal Mine currently have an exciting opportunity for a HR Superintendent to join the team on a 12 month fixed term basis. 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the HR Superintendent manages the HR function for the Ashton, Austar and Abel sites. This role will also form part of the Ashton Senior Leadership Team. 

Some of the key duties will include, however not be limited to:

  • Actively promoting and leading cultural change;
  • Managing large scale change management processes;
  • Partnering with the stakeholders across multiple sites and levels to ensure targets are achieved;
  • Addressing and resolving people related grievances efficiently;
  • Supporting and providing advice to leaders on all facets of HR including performance management, employee case management and recruitment;
  • Actively participating in the development and implementation of site and corporate based projects.   

Skills and Experience

As the successful applicant, you will have the following qualifications and be able to demonstrate the skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or similar;
  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources generalist experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively and proactively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience working within the Mining and/or Heavy Industry
  • SAP experience
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
