About the Position: 

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Health, Safety and Environment Superintendent to join our growing team supporting the Workshops and Project Sites across Queensland.. Based out of Mackay, QLD you will support the Operations Manager and their teams in continuing to lead improvements in HSE performance and culture through provision of proactive HSE advice and hands-on assistance for operations across the Queensland region. As the HSE Superintendent, you will be responsible for the following;

  • Coaching, training and advising managers on a range of HSE issues, and equip them with the appropriate HSE tools and knowledge to effectively lead and manage their teams;
  • Actively support the development and maintenance of Sites and Workshops Safety Health Management System;
  • Provide regular analysis and reporting of metrics to the business to communicate progress against HSE plans and key objectives;
  • Proactively provide hands-on assistance in the implement of HSE tools and process;
  • Lead incident investigations, compile reports, and ensure corrective actions are communicated and implemented within the agrees time frame;
  • Monitor compliance of the Safety System through audits and inspections;
  • Overseeing the injury management process and the return to work coordination;
  • Develop, review, update, and deliver of training packages including assessment and recommendations of development needs;
  • Develop, review, and update JSEA's /SWMS/ Training etc; and 
  • Ensure employees and contractor personnel are in full compliance to site and company health; safety and training standards

Your Skills and Experience: 

  • High Level knowledge and experience in Health, Safety and/or Environment;
  • Experience implementing LEAN principles in the workplace;
  • 3 + years' experience in quality, ideally within a manufacturing environment 
  • Strong influencing and communication skills with a collaborative and customer service focus;
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships through consultation and engagement with regional managers;
  • You will have experience in a similar role; working in a high risk safety environment e.g: mining, resources, engineering, construction or manufacturing sectors;
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of current legislative requirements and the ability to effectively apply these in the workplace;
  • Strong and effective organisational and influencing skills 
  • Proven ability to drive cultural change and capability across the region

In addition you will be in possession of the following:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Health, Safety and/or Environment ;
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; and 
  • Certification in Workplace Auditing and Workplace Investigations (e.g. ICAM)
