About the Role
We are currently seeking a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Superintendent to join our Leinster HSE team on a permanent basis. The role is offered on a 5/3/4/2 roster FIFO from Perth, or residential in Leinster. Flexible work options will be considered.
In this role you will:
- Provide leadership for a team of high performing and capable HSE professionals providing support across operational sites with major projects being undertaken in differing phases
- Maintain a fit for purpose team with excellent team culture
- Build capability within the operational leaders to enable them to create the desired health, safety and environment culture, and enact their HSE risk management and compliance requirements
- Determine and implement required HSE strategies with operational teams
- Govern and maintain the design and implementation of HSE standards, procedures and systems used by Nickel West and Minerals Australia
- Ensure embedment of the BHP field leadership program throughout the operation
- Determine innovative and programmatic HSE initiatives to support successful operational outcomes
- Ensure provision of technical expertise and deliverables of environment, health, hygiene and safety requirements
- Interface with other HSE sub-functions and BHP business functional teams to coordinate delivery of services from these teams that contribute to effective HSE risk management for the operation
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:
- Tertiary degree qualified in health, safety, environment, or related discipline such as science or business
- Experience in leading teams and ability to create an engaging, supportive & inspiring culture
- Demonstrated commitment to achieving proactive HSE outcomes
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills
- Forward thinking and proactive work style
- A proven ability to develop and implement strategic and tactical plans
- An advanced understanding of BHP HSE standards and systems, as well relevant legislation.
- Underground experience will be considered highly advantageous
Location
Nickel West Leinster is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate. The Leinster Village and Township offer a unique lifestyle with all the modern conveniences – an Olympic size swimming pool, health and fitness centre, race-course and even an 18 hole golf course.
