Pit N Portal currently have vacancies for experienced Senior Underground HSE&T Advisors to join the team. Reporting to the HSE&T Superintendent, working an 8:6 roster FIFO ex Perth or Kalgoorlie/Kambalda Residential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Drive and champion a ‘safety first, safety foremost’ mindset and culture, and lead by example in this regard
  • Build and develop strong working relationships with relevant stakeholders, supporting them to deliver site Training & HSE objectives, through diligent and thorough consultation, collaboration and engagement
  • Actively support the development and maintenance of the Safety Health Management System (SHMS)
  • Review and maintain documentation relative to the HSEMP (Health, Safety & Environmental Management Plan),
  • Ensure site safety records are maintained and available when required
  • Lead incident investigations, compile reports, and ensure corrective actions are communicated and support their implementation within agreed timelines
  • Develop, review and update JSEA / SWMS and procedural documentation
  • Develop, coordinate and deliver HSE&T programs including VOC move and test, HSE, site inductions and any other required site-based training
  • Compile and maintain accurate training records
  • Partner with the HR team to manage and execute the vendor management system, training and compliance
  • Provide accurate and high-quality HSE & Training metrics to the business, that assist in showing progress against key HSE&T plans and objectives
  • Provide support and advice to site management teams on a range of HSE&T issues, equipping them with the appropriate tools and knowledge to effectively lead and manage their people and to encourage safe behaviours and a positive, proactive attitude towards safety management and training 
  • Meet and collaborate with your HSE&T colleagues on a regular basis to discuss ideas, and to ensure there is alignment and standardisation across the department

Required skills / experience & attributes:

  • Have a genuine passion for health, safety & training in the workplace 
  • Possess a high-level of knowledge, as well as practical hands-on experience in Training, Health, Safety and/or Environment, ideally within underground mining
  • Demonstrated experience working within a high-risk environment
  • Hold a valid Manual Drivers Licence
  • Hold a qualification in Work, Health & Safety, as well as a Cert IV in Training & Assessment
  • Be certified in Workplace Auditing and Workplace Investigations
  • Possess a solid working knowledge and understanding of current safety legislation, with the ability to discuss, influence and effectively apply these in the workplace
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to build collaborative working relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Strong computer skills & literacy, particularly within the MS Office suite & HSE Management Systems, as well as being proficient in report writing
  • You are strategic, analytical and innovative, with solid problem-solving skills 
  • Strong at multi-tasking and prioritising tasks and ensuring you see them through to completion
  • You possess a customer-service focused, solutions-orientated, can-do attitude
  • You are hands-on, self-motivated, with high-energy and the ability to consistently deliver positive and quality outcomes
