About the Role

The HST Advisor will be responsible for supporting all Departments in encouraging a safe work environment for all employees and contractors on site and to ensure Premier Coal’s obligations to our people and to the legislative framework are met through a primary focus on the MSMS.

  • Ensure that all necessary records are collated and filed in accordance with company policy, MSMS, Statutory and contractual requirements
  • Provide advice to Superintendents with respect to training liabilities and needs of their teams
  • Deliver training in relation to the MSMS, and safety initiatives as directed by the HST Superintendent
  • Maintain first aid kits on site and liaise with supplier regarding upkeep.
  • Lead risk assessments where required and ensure a cross section of affected workers is present for contribution to the process

Skills and Experience

  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment (up to date)
  • Demonstrated experience in emergency response
  • Qualification in the relevant discipline (mandatory)
  • Current Australian Open Driver’s licence
  • Certificate II in Medical Service First Response
  • Rehabilitation Officer (desirable)
  • Previous experience working within a safety role preferably within the Mining Industry
  • Demonstrated experience in building relationships with regulatory bodies and senior personnel in relation to health, safety culture, safety systems compliance and associated matters
  • Experience in conducting incident investigations, analysis and supporting supervisors to continuously improve investigation outcomes
  • Working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 and associated regulations and how they pertain to individual obligations.
