HST Advisor - Fixed Term

Health, Safety & Training Advisor - Fixed Term Maternity relief

We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia. Managed by Yancoal, Cameby Downs is a small open cut thermal coal mine in the Surat Basin in southern Queensland, between Chinchilla and Miles. We employ approximately 200 people, and aim to support our local communities.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

The role will require the successful applicant to work a Monday to Friday roster.

EXPECTATIONS

  • Drive and encourage a strong team culture between crews

  • Promote a Continuous improvement mindset so team members are encouraged to show initiative
  • Ensure team members adhere to all CDM SHMS procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Formal qualifications in an associated OHS discipline (mandatory)
  • Current S11 induction
  • Current Supervisor Competencies (RIIRIS301, RIICOM301, RIIWHS301, RIIRIS401)
  • Current Risk Management Competency (RIIRIS601)
  • Qualified Rehabilitation Coordinator (desirable)
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • QLD Driver's Licence or equivalent

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of HST function within the Mining industry
  • Demonstrated experience in building relationships with regulatory bodies and senior personnel in relation to safety compliance and associated matters
  • Demonstrated high level of communication
  • In conjunction with department leaders, foster a proactive and productive safety culture
  • Capability to develop and implement HST initiatives
  • Able to demonstrate courage to uphold standards, policies and procedures
  • Experienced in conducting training needs analysis and using information to create an effective and site specific training agenda
  • Familiar with QLD Coal Mining Legislative requirements
  • Familiar with Emergency Response & Training compliance
  • Risk facilitation and implementation
  • Strong knowledge of legal compliance including System & Compliance Auditing
  • Computer literacy - able to us MS Office suite of programs and safety database programs e.g. CMO or FPE
