We are Australia's largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, QLD and Western Australia. 

Managed by Yancoal, Cameby Downs is a small open cut thermal coal mine in the Surat Basin in Southern Queensland, between Chinchilla and Miles.  We employ approximately 200 people, and aim to support our local communities. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be part of the Senior Leadership Team.  This role will require the successful applicant to work a Monday to Friday roster.

  • Promote a Continuous improvement mindset so team members are encouraged to show initiative 
  • Ensure team member adhere to all CDM SHMS procedures
  • In conjunction with department leaders, foster a proactive and productive safety culture

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Formal qualifications in an associated OHS discipline (mandatory)
  • Current Supervisor competencies (RIIRIS301, RIICOM301, RIIWHS301, RIIRIS401)
  • Current Risk Management competency (RIIRIS601)
  • Qualified Rehabilitation Coordinator (desirable)
  • Senior First Aid certificate
  • Current S11 induction
  • QLD Driver's Licence or equivalent

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of HST function within the Mining Industry
  • Demonstrated experience in building relationships with regulatory bodies and senior personnel in relation to safety compliance and associated matters
  • Demonstrated high level of communication
  • Capability to develop and implement HST initiatives
  • Able to demonstrate courage to uphold standards, policies and procedures
  • Experienced in conducting training needs analysis and using information to create an effective and site specific training agenda
  • Good understanding of the QLD Coal Mining Legislative requirements
  • Familiar with Emergency Response & Training compliance
  • Risk facilitation and implementation
  • Strong knowledge of legal compliance including System & Compliance Auditing
