About the Role 

To provide operational Human Resources support and guidance to Contract Mining Australia business unit employees and managers through the provision of high-quality proactive HR. To develop a partnering relationship with operations and functional managers to support the effective management of people performance.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the role will include by not be limited to:

  • Provide HR generalist support to ensure the achievement of the business’ strategic plan.
  • Contribute to the delivery of human resources initiatives aligned with business’ strategic plan.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including operations, employees, parent groups and their representatives and client representatives.
  • Provide support and advice across all business areas to ensure understanding of relevant employment industrial instruments and employee entitlements.
  • Assist in the review of HR and related policies and procedures.
  • Educate and coach managers and employees in relation to HR policies and procedures ensuring HR compliance with legislation.
  • Provide support and coaching to key stakeholders regarding employee relations and performance management, including supporting management with termination of employment matters.
  • Assist with the management and investigation into disciplinary matters, employee issues or grievances.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of industrial instruments.
  • Contribute to HR reporting and data analytics.
  • Facilitate roll-out of HR related training and workshops as required.
  • Actively pursue understanding of legislation amendments relating to the HR function and ensure that work is conducted within legislative.
  • Maintenance of accurate and appropriate electronic filing
  • Engage in continuous improvement by identifying opportunities, researching solutions and implementing changes.
  • Participate in regular site visits.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in an operational HR role, preferably within the mining or resources sector
  • High level of communication skills, both written and verbal, across all levels
  • Ability to educate and coach various levels of staff about employment legislation and other legislative observations.
  • Able to manage employee relations cases effectively, balancing legal and commercial risk.
  • Highly developed planning and organisation skills
  • High level knowledge and understanding of employment and industrial relations legislation and regulations.
