We are looking for a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), to join us as a strategic partner and trusted advisor, helping to identify and propel lasting people outcomes for our global Rio Tinto Exploration (RTX) teams. 

Reporting to the Senior HRBP, and as an integral member of the RTX Australasia senior leadership team, this role provides an exciting opportunity to work across challenging and dynamic environments with passionate and invested leaders and employees. We are looking for someone who is curious, has a collaborative approach to problem-solving, can lead and manage change and sees opportunities where others may not. More specifically, the role entails:

  • Translating business strategies, objectives and global context into our people strategy
  • Constructively challenging and coaching senior leaders on their individual and collective effectiveness
  • Supporting and influencing leaders to define, build and strengthen employee engagement
  • Building Leader capability in HR systems and processes including cyclical processes
  • Proactively identifying risks and opportunities to business objectives through data, conversations and observations.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders (eg. AoE, People Experience) to provide feedback and input into the effectiveness of HR processes, policies and systems
  • Supporting leaders to identify and deliver specific outcomes related to talent, development and succession planning
  • Leading or participating in Group and Functional programs or projects across Inclusion and Diversity, talent, performance, learning & development and other core focus areas
  • Acting as an escalation point to resolve significant and complex people issues 

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • A HR or business-related qualification
  • A seasoned HR background with experience collaborating within a large, global organisation
  • A passion for understanding the business in which you operate, and a high level of analytical, influencing, problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Ability to deliver impactful presentations and provide strong facilitation across a broad range of people and leadership topics to both small and large teams
  • Demonstrated experience of leading and influencing cultural change, organisational design and effectiveness and other key change management programs
  • Proven ability to engage, influence and collaborate with senior leadership teams
  • Flexibility to work across time zones and hold a high level of integrity, confidentiality and credibility

It will also be beneficial if you have experience within resources/heavy industry/manufacturing sector.

Where you’ll be working

Based in the Rio Tinto Belmont Office, Perth, Western Australian, with flexibility to attend the Central Park location as required, this role is a Monday-Friday roster requirement. At Rio Tinto, we do offer flexibility to suit your needs. 

Rio Tinto's Exploration group seeks to create value for the business by discovering or acquiring new mineral resources. Organized into three regional teams (Americas, Australasia and Africa-Europe) along with the Exploration Technical Knowledge team, the Exploration group provides both a global reach and a local presence across a range of commodities.

The work environment comprises a wide variety of countries, time zones, cultures, language groups, environments, and jurisdictions.
