King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. Undergoing significant expansion, KOTH is nearing completion of a 7.5 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant (previously 5.2Mtpa), providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, the High Voltage Electrician is responsible for the safe inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of high voltage electrical systems and components on mobile mining and heavy equipment. The role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and supports operational productivity while maintaining compliance with all safety, statutory, and company requirements.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

• Inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair high voltage electrical systems on mobile mining equipment.
• Conduct preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot faults using diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, and schematics.
• Perform high voltage testing, commissioning, and component replacement.
• Maintain electrical systems, including:
  • Alternators and generators
  • Inverters
  • HV cables and connectors
  • Battery electric vehicle systems (where applicable)
  • Electric drive systems
• Complete scheduled maintenance tasks within required timeframes.
• Diagnose electrical faults accurately and efficiently.
• Repair or replace defective components to minimize equipment downtime.
• Interpret electrical drawings and OEM documentation.
• Maintain 240V equipment within the Mobile Maintance Workshop and assist with repairs where needed

About You

• Previous experience as an HV Electrician within an open pit mining environment, supported by a Certificate III in Electrical, a Certificate IV in Electrical Instrumentation (or a related discipline), and current High Voltage Switching or High Voltage Operations certification.
• Demonstrated ability to minimise equipment downtime through efficient identification and resolution of electrical faults while ensuring compliance with safety standards, maintenance procedures, and manufacturer specifications.
• Skilled in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex electrical, electronic, and control systems across a wide range of equipment, including excavators, haul trucks, dozers, loaders, graders, and ancillary mobile plant.
• Refrigerant Handling Licence and Air Conditioning (ARC) accreditation (desirable).
• Understanding of Hitachi and CAT equipment systems, contributing to improved equipment reliability, availability, and operational performance.
• Proficient in fault-finding using diagnostic software and OEM tools, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting CAN bus networks, and repairing wiring harnesses, sensors, lighting systems, communication systems, and machine monitoring technology.
• Working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2020 the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.
• Holds a High Risk Work (HRW) Licence (LF, WP & DG).
• Current certifications in Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry.
• Hold a current WA Driver’s License (manual C Class)
