Maintenance Services HV Electrician

Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

Be a part of FMG’s exciting new magnetite mine at Iron Bridge. Currently under construction, when finished it will be one of the largest magnetite mines in W.A. The world class facility is situated 145km south of Port Hedland and will deliver 22 million tonnes per annum of high grade 67% magnetite concentrate product. The innovative process design ensures production is highly efficient with globally competitive operating costs for a mine of this scale and size. Iron Bridge will employ 900 full time positions once operations commence in early 2023.

We are currently looking to recruit HV electricians to be a part of the Maintenance Services department. The department is responsible for the reliable supply of raw water to the processing facility as well as water supply for near mine services and the management of the tailings settling facility.  

Reporting to the Maintenance Services Supervisor, the scope of responsibility includes operation and maintenance of a bores and pump stations including pumps, instrumentation, telemetry, control panels and gensets. Additionally, tailings management including operation of discharge spigots, decant equipment and facilities are part of responsibilities. Finally, frequent inspections of pipelines, valves and other equipment is also expected of the role.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Pump & electric motor fault finding 
  • Diesel generator electrical maintenance including fault finding
  • Telemetry system hardware maintenance
  • Bore pump installations 
  • Equipment monitoring and diagnostics 
  • Raising notifications and work orders 
  • Statutory testing and inspections
  • Completion of electrical logbooks and test recordings 
  • Apply FMG electrical standards and working within internal systems, to ensure adherence to established technical and operational standards.  

Qualifications and skills required:

  • WA electrical workers license 
  • High voltage switching ticket is highly desirable 
  • Experience with computerised maintenance management system such as SAP
  • Competency with variable speed drives
  • Valid first aid certificate - CPR and LVR in the last 12 months
  • Condition monitoring and control instrumentation competency is highly desirable
  • Strong focus and demonstrated commitment to safety 
  • Substantial experience in mining production or operations preferred
  • Valid Drivers licence
