About the Role
The successful candidate will join a dynamic team providing overarching technical leadership to the operations of the Inland HV network. This function is integral to all aspects of network planning, execution, maintenance and operation of the Inland Network.
Our HV Operations Specialists are responsible for ensuring the HV transmission and distribution networks are designed, commissioned and operated as per the BHP and Statutory requirements, playing a key role in creating and maintaining a safe environment for BHP employees and members of the public in vicinity of electricity network.
This role will also be critical in operational integration of renewable energy sources into the network over the next few years as WAIO works towards its decarbonisation goals, which will be both challenging and exciting.
Reporting to the Lead Network Operations, the primary focus of this role is to:
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, advice and operational support to field crew.
- Undertake investigation and engineering assessment for network interruptions, to eliminate repetition, focusing on network reliability and availability.
- Facilitate first response for all network interruptions and provide technical expertise to field staff during the restoration process.
- Utilise SCADA and other software platforms
- Provide technical advice and nominate operational requirements for Projects.
- Provide operational advice during construction, commissioning and handover of Projects.
- Participate in development of Operations Improvement Initiatives and associated implementation plans.
- Contribute in maintenance and upkeep of Electricity Network data within relevant databases.
- Assist with the Capital, Maintenance and Operations budget formulation and review process.
- Provide technical reviews to check engineering scopes, reports, design and other engineering documents conform to BHP and Australian Standards.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Tertiary Electrical Engineering qualifications.
- Experience in system operations, engineering & design or asset management in Mining OR Electrical Utility with high voltage transmission and distribution system.
- Knowledge in power systems operations and experience utilising SCADA tools & system.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, problem solve and react to unplanned situations.
- Operations and operational integration of renewable technologies (preferred).
- Project Management experience (preferred).
- Root Cause Analysis and other Analytical Techniques (preferred).
- SAP/CMMS Experience (preferred).
- Network load flow analysis experience utilising software such as PowerFactory (preferred).
Location
This is a residential OR FIFO based role from Perth with 7 days on/7 days off roster, flexible roster options will be considered for suitable candidate.
