About the Role
You will be fly-in fly-out from Perth to Newman on 7 days on, 7 days off roster, working on all Eastern Pilbara Mine sites, operating and maintaining the generation, transmission and distribution electricity network within the Pilbara region.
Reporting to the High Voltage Maintenance Supervisor, your duties as a HV Protection Electrician will include:
- Undertake maintenance and testing on HV substation primary plant & protection systems.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of accurate technical procedures and work instructions.
- Exercising a proficient level of technical knowledge and expertise to independently make informed decisions and support HV Technicians in the performance of their duties.
- Maintain a safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the network, including but not limited to; Ring main units, Transformers and other HV switching devices
- Demonstrate commitment and conformance to the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct, and relevant statutory obligations.

About You
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
- Australian Manual Driver’s License
- WA “A” Grade Electrical License
- Electrical Trade Cert
- High Voltage Switching ticket
- Previous experience with HV electrical equipment and systems specific to mining and utilities (including diagnosis and fault-finding substations, switchgear and transformers)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are key components of this role as you will work with closely with a variety of stakeholders
- Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (SAP experience is highly desirable).
- The ability to apply expertise to analyse and solve problems
- Protection testing and commissioning skills and experience
- HIAB, EWP, Forklift, Dogging and Rigging High Risk Licences
