About the Role
The Specialist Project Studies contributes to the safe and efficient delivery of projects throughout their lifecycle in line with BHP standards and requirements, within budget and schedule. They coordinate internal and external parties to deliver business cases and value optimised project outcomes. Project benefits may include process and safety improvements to existing infrastructure, new infrastructure, water management, land rehabilitation, broader social value initiatives including emission reduction opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists day to day management of capital project study phases as directed by Study Leads.
- Helps identifies opportunities to reduce cost, including management of the project Value Optimisation register.
- Assists to define project objectives and schedules, identify critical activities, monitor the project plan/schedule, and support continuous improvement initiatives across projects at BHP.
- Integrates functional inputs on key project documentation.
- Ensures project changes and decisions are clearly documented ready to be formally handed over to the delivery team.
- Coordinates risk management activities within project development.
- Captures and shares internal lessons learned and external best practices and identifies opportunities for improvement.
- Assists capturing internal lessons learned and external best practices across the project and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Identifies, develops and implements systems and processes that improve efficiency of project development.
About You
- Qualifications or experience in Engineering Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Skills in engaging with diverse stakeholders, including the ability to discuss ideas constructively and build trusted relationships.
- Comfortable working within established frameworks and processes to support effective delivery and predictable results.
- Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate business benefits, risks, and project dependencies clearly.
