Indigenous Development Traineeship - Closure Readiness

We are looking for LAP (Local Aboriginal Persons) trainees to join the Closure Readiness team and participate in project processes, native seed collection and assisting the Land & Rehabilitation team.

About the role

  • Building a knowledge base for a project. This will require use of the Microsoft suite and involve learning where to finding historical reports and data
  • Participating in project risk assessment processes
  • Participate in developing project level stakeholder engagement plans
  • Assist with project controls documentation including schedules, cost tracking, risk tracking etc.
  • Driving on site – primarily EW mine and infrastructure areas with an aim of getting a formal mine drive permit
  • Complete personal risk assessments for all field-based activities.
  • Assist with organising site visits and tours.

About you

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Current Drivers licence
  • Have LAP status approval for East Weipa signatory clan groups
  • High degree of work ethic and self-motivation
  • Basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft apps (excel, word, Powerpoint etc)
  • The ability to pass D&A and medical testing
  • Enthusiastic, passionate and work well within a team
  • The ability to successfully complete language, literacy and numeracy testing
  • Provide a compete application kit (resume, drivers licence, LAP Status form and application form)
  • The ability to complete all pre-screening questions

Please note, in accordance with the Western Cape Communities Co-Existence Agreement (WCCCA), this role is prioritised for Local Aboriginal Persons (LAP) with recognised traditional connection to the East Weipa operational area (the Traditional Owner groups linked to East Weipa are Alngith, Peppan, Wathayn and Anathangayth).
